Day 123: Joanne.

"Take me for what I am, who I was meant to be. And if you give a damn you better take me baby, or leave me."
-RENT

I think that auditioning is the most exciting and fun part to being an actor. You get this wonderful opportunity to go into a new space and present yourself to new people and try something. If you fail, oh well! It is not the end of the world and you can always find an easy way to blame the director. But if you succeed, and you get a callback, there is no greater feeling.

Callbacks is probably the next best thing because you know you are a contender and you just have to bring your A-game. So, I brought it. And I stomped that stage! I made sure to dress the part in this ensemble with the dress being worn as a tunic tucked into Fiona's high-waisted pants I will one day return to her, dark blue Gap cardigan, leather braided Target belt, and black Nordstroms lace booties.

You might be wondering, "what was the outcome of this day?" Well friends, I got it. Not only did my dream of finally playing a black woman come true, I made the day of Miss Erin S. She has been wanting to see this show for years but her parents wouldn't let her because of the mature content (if you are familiar with Rent, you know what I am talking about). But now that she is in eighth grade, and they promised that if I got in, she would be allowed to come up and see it, come May, her dream will finally come true too.

I am also glad to say that my streak of kissing a girl in every WWU show I am in is continuing and I am three-for-three. Maybe I should add that to my resume and say on audition forms, "Will only take role if there is a lesbian moment for my character." Luck of the draw, my lip-locking partner is also named Hannah.
Hannah on Hannah action for the win!
