Day 196: Meet Clive.

This is my new favorite thing, my pillow owl, Clive.
Yes I knitted him but he is stuffed on the inside so do not get to excited.

Today is only the second day of the quarter and I am already feeling the stress but it is okay. We shall overcome! Today I made it through all four classes, found friends in both of my intro classes so maybe, this way I will actually go, and I successfully talked about a subject mannor to a bunch of grad students and didn't sound like a complete idiot.
The outfit for the day took some favorite items from yesterday and wore them in a new way. The dress was worn again as a tied tunic (but slightly looser), with the same AmericanApparel tube top with a black and white pattern on it but worn as a longer skirt, plaid shirt donated by Leah, orange REI wool socks, Nordstroms lace black booties that may have died today, a leather jacket, and golden-rod circle scarf. Accessories: stud earrings from my cousin and assorted rings.
Now to get this monologue ready for tomorrow at 8am and then I can handle the rest of the day... Wish me luck!

Day 195: Day One of Hell, I mean... Spring.

The prediction of the day was stress but, I figured it all out! And I still have time to catch up on my blog posts. I am deeply and truly sorry for my laziness. I will do my best to keep up on post from now on. And, after today, no jean or Frye boots for awhile
Accomplishments for today: On time and early to my 8:00am class with two cups of coffee in my system to be alert and ready, a run to Boulevard park and back with Henry, first day of class with Dr. Mather-Schmitt, powerpoint presentation for my meeting tomorrow complete, Rent rehearsal, eating real food, reading two plays, and hopefully finishing my owl pillow. The night is still young but I do have to read for Biology. Yeah, I am a Junior and in Bio101 spring quarter. Winning as usual.
The first day of school outfit included the dress being worn as a tunic and tied with a patterned AmericanApparel tunic underneath, Forever21 jeans, Nordstroms floral coverup, golden-rod circle scarf, and Frye boots.

Have a pleasant evening all!

Day 194: Last Day the Break of Spring.

Spring Break Day: Last.
The break is over and school starts back up again tomorrow. As per usual, I am feeling unprepared. It is okay though, I thrive on stress. The outfit for the day was not put on until very late in the day because I spent the morning in bed. Not because of sickness, because of the love affair I have with my bed. And laziness.
I wore the dress as a tunic with the Forever21 jeans (again I know but I haven't done laundry in awhile and the boys upstairs are busy doing their four hundred loads in our utilities). UrbanOutfitters sweater, Nordstroms chain necklace, jade necklace my friend Kelsey gave me, and Frye boots... They just go with everything.

I want to make this next. Or maybe start knitting my kittens...

Day 193: Back to Hampsterism.

Spring Break Day 7: Back to Bellingham
Car ride and knitting. This was my day. The project, a giant owl. I will post a picture when it is all done but if I do say so myself, it is pretty awesome!
The outfit for the ride included the dress being worn as a tunic with a Jcrew men's green cardigan, Forever21 jeans, green circle scarf, and Frye boots. I am ready to wear new clothes!!!

Day 192: Portlandia.

Spring Break Day 6: Portland Day Trip with Alec.
If you don't know, this is Alec or the love of my year. This may not be the greatest picture of him but I think it is charming and I like it. Also, that is not beer, it is coffee.
One of our stops for the day was a Voodoo donuts. Worth the line for the experience and the mustache. The best part of the day though was the purchase of Alec's new leather jacket. I will be sure to post a photo including it soon. It is a glorious, glorious thing.
My out was not as glorious. I should mention that I was wearing jeans again under the dress but I got too hot (that will teach me to stop rocking this style...) so I took them off in the street next to UrbanOutfitters because the line for the dressing room was too long. Anyways, I wore the dress as a dress, the Target light-brown cardigan, leather jacket, golden-rod circle scarf, and Frye boots. I am ready to go back to Bellingham to get new clothes on my body.

Other plus of todays trip, seeing my cousin and her husband. Congratulations you too. I love you both and I am so excited to see what life has in store for you both.

Day 191: The Lorax.

Spring Break Day 5: Movie Date to the Lorax

Dr. Seuss is one of my favorites so my mother and Alec and I went to see the movie of it today. It is very well down. Zac Efron and Taylor Swift don't sing. Maybe that is why I liked it so much.
I teared up.
Alec cried twice.
It is worth seeing.
3 out of 5.
Pants and dress combo take another stab at it today paired with Frye boots and a green circle scarf. Original Hannah. Original.

Day 190: ABC.

Spring Break Day 4: PICK UP ALEC IN TACOMA

My one true love is here. Whiskey. Oh, and Alec. What a splendid break this is turning out to be. To go pick up the wonderful glorious drink, oh and boy, I wore this...
The dress is being worn in true form with pants... interesting choice, I know, thank themanrepeller.com, paired with Frye boots (they are the only shoes I brought home...), Target light-brown cardigan, and light-blue circle scarf. I warned you, so. many. repeats.

Day 189: Some Head to the Beach, I Head to the Snow.

Spring Break Day 3: Snow day!

Head to the Mountain!
And these tall trees... don't die going up the windy road, or by falling heaps of snow!
Suit up! And let's go!
The dress is hidden under layers of warmth which include but are limited to leggings from Target, a tank-top from Gap of the blue color, Thermal long sleeve white shirt donated by my mother for the day, blue and green striped turtle neck donated by Henry's mother for the day, these snow pants donated by Henry for the day, long wool REI grey socks, and these kick ass snow boots!
Henry looked like this. We are a vision.

PS the 34 flavors of soft serve on your way to Mt. Rainer, not worth it. Just FYI.

Day 188: New F***ing Haircut.

Spring Break Day 2: Hair cut. Well, trim. You can hardly tell, I know.
The outfit for the chair of relaxation and pleasure (my hair dresser is really good, go see her at the Vally in Tumwater) had the dress being worn as a slightly longer skirt, with a white tank-top from Target tucked in, Target light-brown cardigan, light-blue circle scarf, and Frye boots.

What else did I do today...
I made a circular rainbow of my nail polish. Win.

Day 187: Spring Break Baby!

Tis Spring break.
First day task, the dentist.
The outcome: no cavities but I need to floss more. (I didn't need to go to a dentist to be told that)
Now, to laziness. My true joy of break.

I don't know why I am writing this with such a dramatic voice in my head. I am imagining the movie preview deep man voice saying all of this with dramatic noises in the background... Very weird.
The outfit for the chair of doom included the dress being worn as a skirt with a burger t-shirt over top donated by Liam, paired with a Jcrew men's green cardigan, Frye boots, and the golden-rod circle scarf.

Now, back to PJs.

Day 186: Closing the Fantasticks.

26 Shows Run of the Fantasticks at the Mt. Baker Theater Mission Status: COMPLETE
It has been an amazing 5 weeks. It started in one direction and ended in a complete other place. I am really proud of the work done by my cast and crew mates. It was a blast and I will miss them all very dearly.
BADDA BING BADDA BANG BADDA BOOM! BABY!
Chili dogs, chili dogs, chili dogs...
(had to have been there)
The closing day celebration/strike/eating at Bayou/going home to Olympia/Spring break commencement outfit included the dress being worn as a tunic tucked in (only at the front) into a pair of Forever21 jeans, paired with Frye boots, light-brown Target cardigan, leather jacket, and cream circle scarf.

P.S. I didn't pack very well for this week so be ready for a lot of variation on pretty much the
exact. same. thing. every. day.
For the next seven days only. Let's hope...

Day 185: Saint Patricks Day.

I made this beautiful sandwich today. I wanted to share it with you. Happy Irish Celebration day.

Do you have your green on? I do!
The dress is being worn as a slip under this white designer dress from my aunts store with a green mens shirt over top, golden-rod circle scarf, and brown Nordstrom boots. Simple, comfortable, and pinch free. Happy St. Patricks all!

Tomorrow is the closing performance of the Fantasticks! Ihope to see your beautiful faces there!

Day 184: Tis the Craft Season.

Spring break has begun so I am going to craft every day. Today, felt owls. Aren't they cute?
I have to name them but I have not been struck with inspiration yet. I will keep you posted.
The outfit for the craft day one included the dress being worn as a shirt with an UrbanOutfitters zip up hoodie, leather brown jacket, donated jeans from Lauren, brown Forever21 angle boots, and a golden-rod circle scarf. Predictable Hannah ensemble. Reminder: Wear green tomorrow!

Day 183: Big Mama Celebration.

I AM DONE WITH FINALS!
Freedom is so great. How do I celebrate, big mamas at Jalapenos. Win.
It was a little strong but delicious. And I over ate, but what is new.
The celebratory outfit included the dress being worn as it should belted with a donated by Riley that is of the teal color, with a Nordstroms floral patterned cover up, blue circle scarf, and Frye boots (yet again). Hopefully I will mix up the footwear soon but I cannot promise anything.

Day 182: Half Way Mark.

182 days down and we are half way through the challenge! Iam feeling great and ready for the other half. I have one more final until the freedom of spring break where I will sleep, craft, read, hike, drink wine, and be merry. To make it through the week, I have found this wonderful site where I can make dolls. This is my favorite thus far.
Alec and I (and Herald) as Harry Potter students. Naturally, We recreated this photo today.
Not. Too. Bad. If I do say so myself. My jacket is cutting off his leg but, you get the idea. I am wearing the dress as a tank top under a H&M white button-up tunic, H&M mens black sweater, paired with Forever 21 skinny jeans, Frye boots, black and white patterned fringe scarf, and yellow mug. No cat though... soon enough I will have one. Even if it is fake.

Day 181: Velvet Dress For Success.

The big day is done. Two more tests out of the way. What led me to success? Velvet.
I believe in it more that Scarlet O'Hara. Do I have a slight obsession with Gone With the Wind and can constantly find ways to relate it to my life, yes. Yes I very much can.
So today I dressed in velvet. Jcrew blue velvet jacket, with the dress worn as a tank top tucked into Gap pants donated by Lauren, Target braided leather belt, black necklace from France, green circle scarf, and Frye boots. You can see the remaining red nail polish from my character day yesterday but it will have to go before the show tomorrow. Two more finals to go in two days. Wish me luck.

Day 180: Winter Finals Begin.

Finals week has begun! I started with my one and only performance final and vomit. Yes, vomit. The best way to start finals week is an upset stomach. I pulled through and kicked my performances ass! Sorry for the language... but I am excited. Now to study for the four left... Tomorrow is the big day with two awaiting me.
The outfit for success included the dress being worn in its true form with a Target yellow belt, Jcrew menswear green cardigan, leather brown jacket, a scarf that used to belong to my mother, Christmas socks, and Frye boots. My new favorite, my bun. I will wear my hair like this always. Get used to it.

Day 179: Snow Surprise.

I love that it is March and the weather still decides to be in the winter mood. I am a little disappointed that the snow came a few days late of my birthday but I am still pleased of it's visit. So I made the effort today to dress for the weather!
The dress is worn in its natural state with my designer black Ellen Tracy coat, Frye boots, cream circle scarf, and fur hat that was donated by Camele. A new, excited addition.

This Sunday is the marker of the finals week that is to come and the last week of Fantasticks. So many things happening... Wish me luck on this weeks completion.

Day 178: Kony 2012.

I am a little slow on the uptake. For a few days now I have been getting emails from various people to watch this "Kony 2012" video. It wasn't until today that I finally watched it. Since everyone and their mother is talking about it, I figured I should educate myself. The 30 minute video discusses Joseph Kony and helps to make him famous, not to celebrate him, but to rise support for his arrest and set a precedent for unternational justice. This video was produce by Invisible Children as a international campaign to help the victims of Kony's actions through the internet community that has been created through multiple means including facebook. I can say that I was one of the millions who were uneducated of this man and the events that have occurred throughout and before my lifetime. For this I can say thank you to this video and the emails and facebook posts that brought me to watching it. I think that this is a rightful cause to support. Unfortunately, like the video states, if this act is not successful, this video and acts on the part of the United States will only cause more issues for the people of Uganda. I don't think their is anyone out there who needs to be told that this is wrong but I think that if you don't know what this is, take the time to watch the video and read up on the events in Uganda. It is a horrible truth and I can only hope that the efforts of individuals involved in the push to arrest Kony are successful.

On a different note, it is Saturday! And I had a beautiful lazy morning. I don't have the show tonight but I do have rehearsal and studying for days. I also plan on watch Pinocchio. I also want to make soup but since I am still in bed, I don't think I will succeed in that goal.
This is what studying for finals looks like.
The dress is worn again in tank top style but this time knotted on the side and paired with an UrbanOutfitters sweater, Target yoga pants, glasses to look and feel smart, socks from Shaun, and the good ole' Birks.

After a coffee break, back to work. Study, rehearse, practice, rehearse, study, movie.
That is my day plan.

Day 177: Some Girls Round 2.

Woke up. No hang over. Excellent birthday. Thank you to everyone again for a near perfect day. And now it is Friday! The last real school day of the quarter, the last day of dead week, and I couldn't be more pleased. The two classes I went to today were spent with evaluations and finishing up information. The two classes I missed, review. I missed for a good reason. Money and Legos. I got to babysit today for a family I watched for at the beginning of the school year. The boys and I played video games and with Star Wars Lego sets. I now want a lego set of my own to complete. I forgot how much fun Legos are! I also got Pita Pit today. Win.

I do feel awful though because I forgot about my Rent costume fitting this morning due to the planner missing from my bag. It all worked out okay but I still feel horrible and unprofessional. Bound to happen one day this week. I wish I had a hangover to blame it on but no, I am just an idiot sometimes.

After the Fantasticks tonight, the majority of the cast went to see Some Girls together. I needed to see the other boy! I sat in the exact same seat. I did appreciate this though because I had the same perspective with two different actors. It made for a really interesting contrast. I would like to say again how honored I feel to go to a school with so many talented individuals. This show gives a handful of students the chance to show their ability and they should feel very pleased with their work. The show is almost over! If you haven't seen it, go do it! They deserve a full house and your support.

Today's outfit revolves around my new favorite item. Now I know that I am not supposed to buy any clothes but this sweatshirt has been a planned purchase for three years. So I broke that rule. JUST THIS ONCE. The dress was again worn as a shirt this time tucked into a pair of Levi jeans, belt by Buckel, Toms shoes, leather jacket, and the best sweatshirt in the world, the dark green Boundary Bay sweatshirt. Now all I need is a cat and my life will be complete.

Day 176: Legality is Fun.

21 years I have been roaming this earth. To celebrate this, I woke up at 6:43 and walked to Rocket Donuts with my absolute best friend, Mr. A.B. Chunn, to get two donuts (a maple bar and one with sprinkles) and a coffee. The highlight was not the feeling of wanting to vomit sugar but the birthday song he sang to me.
Hey there,
it's your birthday!
Get happy!
Happy when you're born,
happy when you're sad,
happy when you're old and gray!
I love him dearly. Best. Birthday song. EVER.
*This picture I stole from Alec's facebook. It is one of my favorites of us.

Highlights from today include:
1. Successfully performing my first Shakespeare monologue without completely messing up.
2. Turning in a status report that may or may not have mentioned the size of one's "member" in a wordy creative manor.
3. Making the sideways ID look good and not with black hair.
4. Having my first legal drink with my mother at the Olive Garden. A pomegranate margarita martini.
5. Purchasing my first sewing machine.
6. New underwear.
7. Finally getting Oh the Places You'll Go.
8. Craft books. Sewing booking. ASL book.
9. Illegally drinking in a park with LorLor.
10. Cupcakes.
11. Boundary Bay sweatshirt.
12. Beer Sampler.
13. Dancing at Rumors.

Pictures from Boundary bay taken by the beautiful Anna White.

 Beer sampler!
So. Much. Beer.
Disclaimer. That is not all for me. But, most of it.
Anna, myself, and the Oatmeal Stout she bought me after spilling the sampler size on my leg.

The birthday outfit included the dress being worn as a tunic under a Target light-brown cardigan, leather jacket, paired with It jeans, Toms plum wool shoes, golden-rod circle scarf made by Kallen, and stone earrings. A very fun and excellent day. Thank you to everyone who made it so special. XOXO

Day 175: Last Illegal Act.

Mid week wonder. It is Wednesday. And a very exciting Wednesday at that! Tomorrow is my birthday and though, I am not all too keen on spreading the news, I am excited to finally be legal! However, the more you know me, the more you know how insignificant this legality truly is. Regardless, my last illegal sip will be of my favorite beer, Guinness.
Today, getting dressed was a low priority so I kept it casual as I went to my three classes that were held today with the dress being worn as a tank top tucked into a pair of UrbanOutfitters grey genie pants, paired with a white cardigan donated by Riley, blue wool socks from REI, Birkenstocks, and a scarf my sister got me a few years ago in India.
Let me mention again, socks and Birkenstocks.
Yes.
I am German, so it is okay.

Day 174: Exhaustion Causes Geometric Confusion.

I have hit that point where tired does not even being to express the way I feel. The quarter has been full  of stresses and my body and mind are exhausted. Spring break is a little under two weeks away and I need it here quickly. Getting out of Bellingham is the first priority. The second, making time for my much missed friends. Hopefully balace will soon be restored and my dressing choices will return to acceptable. I am not sure if it was the feeling of the snow to sunshine crack weather, the sleep brain dysfunction, or the dreaded audience member that put my closet in a funk but here is what it all created.
The dress was worn as a skirt paired with a long sleeve striped blue Gap shirt donated by Riley (normal), with Frye boots (normal), an UrbanOutfitters geometric patterned tank top over (not "Hannah" but still within normail limits), three-quarter length sweater of the orange family donated by Lauren (not truly matching, awkward length, nearly not normal), and purple AmericanEagle scarf.
Color and pattern threw up on me. Not normal.

At least we know I can sometimes be pretty...

...weird that is!

Day 173: Don Giovanni.

The first order of business...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TROY
I am so pleased that it has snowed on your birthday, I can only hope it stays until mine so the 5 year tradition can hold up. I am sorry we couldn't celebrate together today but we will find a time to go get a drink together! I adore you. You mean the world to me, darling.
P.S. I want to road trip with you again.
Next item on this posts list, the outfit. Today the dress felt like hiding under an Annapolis sweatshirt and  tucked into Gap pants donated by Lauren. Added was a leather jacket, Nordstroms lace black leather booties, and golden rod circle scarf (yes, I cheated my rule but it was too cold with the snow).
I also look like I haven't showered but I suppose that makes sense because it is the truth. Hey, I didn't have a show tonight. I got to let loose and let live.

The final discussion, Don Giovanni.
Another show that is about to open on my campus is a production through the Music department on the main stage, an opera! I know what you are thinking...

opera

A superior form of entertainment in which most of the characters' lines are sung. Not many young people like opera, because their brains are so clogged by rap and sex that they are unable to appreciate the dignity and beauty of opera.
One famous opera is Don Giovanni, by Mozart.
(thank you urbandictionary for this perfect description)

However, if this is the way you feel, see Don G. It is all about the sexuality and narcissism of one man played wonderfully by the charming, Reuben Walker. His talent does not stand alone in a cast full of extremely talented individuals. The vocal stylings of Dana, Veronica, Gabel, James, Jon, Deb and Daniel left me in utter awe. I feel very proud to be from a program that is the home to these singers. The set was minimalistic and charming, setting the stage for the character to grow into a very powerful second half. The few moments that the ensemble has to shine on the stage were entertaining with a dynamic cast that supports their leads in sheer talent and continuity. GO SEE THIS OPERA. It will be a significant loss for you to not hear these voices and watch this story unfurl.

Day 172: Indian Flavored Food.

I love Indian food. Spicy is my friend. Today, I discovered a pleasant little restaurant by the mall that serves excellent Indian cuisine. I am also very intrigued by there authentic belly dancing evening on the last Friday of every month. I may have to check that out sometime...
The outfit for today was made from the dress worn as a dress, belted with a floral Nordstroms head scarf, Frye boots, and vintage orange blazer. Was it weather appropriate? No. But I never dress for the weather. If I did, I would live in my down comforter on my bed because that is the only place I am consistently warm.
I rearrange my room yesterday. I doubt you can tell how... I turned the bed to be at an angle and move the chest to be under the window. I was nervous about loosing pillows or myself into the now open space behind my head but all parties were safe. At least last night... We will see how long this lasts.

Day 171: Some Girls Part One.

Today I am going to take on the role of "theater reviewer". My favorite role.

I am a theatre snob.
I am not afraid to admit it.

Some Girls is a play written by Neil Labute that was selected as a part of Western's main stage theatre repertoire this year directed by my professor, Rich Brown. The home of this show is in the underground theater in the PAC. This could not have been a more perfect setting. I am going to take quite a bit of time discussing the set of this play because it was incredible. The designer, J. Wiese, teamed up with Brown to create a box, literally, within the little theater that looked exactly like a hotel room. The walls were created by scrims so the actors could not see out but the audience could see in and it was set on a turn table and was rotated between scenes to give audience members a new perspective each time. The attention to detail was incredible. This kind of set design has never been done before and it was a beautiful first go at it. My complaints lie in the fact that I couldn't see everything. I missed a lot of facial reactions and complete visual for some moments. I am one that likes to see everything because I am a visual person so, I found this frustrated. However, that made the visible moments all the more meaningful.  These blocks also caused some muffled text. I am glad that I had read the play before so I knew what was going on or else I would have missed a lot of the context of the play. The only change I would have really made would have been to make the bed smaller. Only one character is comfortable on the bed with guy and it takes up most of the room. The other three scenes had to be acted around it which made the actors appear constricted. The lack of physical movement was made up for in vocality. Labute is a dialog author. Most of his plays have incredible dialog with characters I don't care for. Some Girls is full of characters I enjoy, and consequently one of my favorite Neil Labute plays. Every actor in the cast captured the Labute dialog perfectly. Timing, emotion, turn-taking, overlap, dynamics, and stress fit the style to a T. It pleases me so to go to a University with so many talented individuals who can work with challenges to create a diverse group of characters in a 90ish minute play. The guy character is double cast. Because of this, I am going to see the show again next Friday. I look forward to see the different choices between Jason and Andy and how that affects the female performances by Shelby, Andrea, Laura, Francesca, and Rachael. This show is a very impressive collage performance and people at Western should take the time to not only support their talented peers but to see this dynamic piece of art.

The outfit of the day was created from with the dress being worn in its natural form with a Forever21 grey lace top worn over, paired with a Target brown cardigan, Frye boots, bracelets from Sundance, Nordstroms, and a boutique in Spain, and an owl necklace from Forever21.

This outfit was perfect for dinner and play hopping. The Snodgrass family came up to see my show. We went to dinner at Boundary Bay and ate our weight in deliciousness. After the Fantasticks, the five of us went to Mallard's for ice cream, for most of us at least. Tim didn't get real ice cream. Spicy cold cheese. That is what his selection essentially was.

Day 170: Meatloaf.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR. SEUSS!

Truth: Long socks worn with a skirt and no boots will make you look like a school girl no matter what else you are wearing. So why fight the power of skankdom and embrace the inner school girl hoe-ism and rick rock those socks!
This was just what was done today. After putting on the dress and brown tights donated by Leah, I decided I needed more leg warmth and added the Nordstrom grey long socks, red plaid that was also once Leah's, white cardigan donated by Riley, circle scarf, yes I broke my rule, but it was too cold today, and slipped back into the man shoes. They are my shoes of the week.
My assorted bangles for the day include a breaded Sundance bracelet and eye of God bracelet I got this summer in Turkey.

The section to Conner.
I am in love with this picture. It may be my favorite from the day. I love very much like my Grandmother (my mother's mother) and I miss this dress so much. I am glad I have an excuse to wear it.
This picture is a gem as well. Fashion magazine anyone?

Also, story of the day. My uncle's dog had to be put down last week and I finally had time to call and chat and ask about how my cousin Adele was dealing with the loss of her first pet and Carl laughed and said he would send me a picture so I could see how she is doing. He sent me this.
They made meatloaf for dinner the other night and Adele made it into the shape of Fiona, their dog, in her honor. She wanted to eat the head. I love my cousin but this is hilarious. And sweet. But I can't help but laugh. This is a story that will be brought up for years and years and years...
