Day 77: House of Wax

"You're saying that that's a real person... underneath?"
-Nick Jones in House of Wax (2005)

Class went on forever today... But at least I have one of my finals done and I aced it! Win. Other classroom excellence was brought to me by my phonetics professor. The words of advice from the day, "Tonight, go home, get drunk and have babies." She is a living fortune cookie.

In other news, I had a wonderful impromptu visit by my old room mate and dear friend, Kallen Smith. After eating at Boundary Bay and then eating our weight in Oreos, Doritos, Butterfingers and Riesens while watching countless Youtube videos and David Firth, we are hitting the hay together! I love having a best friend to fall asleep next to.

The movie of choice for the day was the 2005 remake of House of Wax for two reasons.

1. No-Shave-November is now over and I am no longer repulsed by legs and under parts.
2. Paris Hilton dies.

Today's outfit included the dress worn in true form with brown Target tights and grey long socks, Frye boots, UrbanOutfitters long patterned wool sweater, Forever21 owl necklace, and Target braided leather brown belt.

Now to bed. Before 10:30... weird.

Day 76: Biutiful

"My love, what you see over there aren't stars. It's your nervous system."
Uxbal in Biutiful (2010) to Marambra

I have become obsessed with Spanish film. And Javier Bardem, but that isn't really a new found fact. Today's movie of choice was Biutiful, a movie I have wanted to watch for some time now because of all the hubbub of last year. However, I really should start to read plot lines before watching films to see if the subject matter will upset me... Terminal Prostate Cancer. Really? Why do I do this to myself. At least the night will end perfectly with ice cream and my best friend.

In other news, I looked like an awkward teacher's assistant today in this outfit, reading glasses and all with the dress worn as a tank top over a long sleeve purple-ish colored top from the Gap, grey wool sweater donated by Riley from Nordstrom, Citizen jeans, plum wool Toms shoes, Christmas socks (tis the season), black belt I bought at Fred Meyer, and a stone necklace my best friend Fiona made for me ( I am not giving this away either...)

After walking back from a rehearsal with the orchestra for this weekends holiday concert (hence the rosy checks) I was greeted with love and holiday Oreos from Alec. He makes coming home so wonderful, and our new brand of milk. If only we could find a way for it to be deliver straight to our door every morning with the paper...

Day 75: The Skin I Live In

"The things the love of a mad man can do."
-Marilla from The Skin I Live In (2011)

So apparently this is the week of movie reviews. We will see how long that goes on because it is dead week and studying should take a priority. Seeing as this is only the second day of the week and I went on a date with Alec today to see a charming little film by Pedro Almodovar at the Pickford with a bunch of elderly, the challenge is still on...

I really enjoyed this film with its interesting twists that even I didn't see coming. Who would have guessed it? Hannah Reclam didn't predict the ending of the movie! Weird... I would recommend it but be prepared for an obscure taste on life. If you know Pedro, you know this movie was not out of the limits of his imagination.

I am also feeling very domestic in today's outfit, hence the kitchen shot with the dress worn as a tank top with a vintage blue patterned skirt found at the GoodWill, black Target tights, vintage saddle shoes from a local store in Olympia, tan three-quarter length cardigan from Target, gold chain necklaces that belong to my mother, flower earrings from India, and turquoise ring.

I also got many compliments on my hair today but I assure you I did not cut it, dye it, or really do anything. I promise. It was just a good hair day I supposed.

Day 74: Hugo

“I like to imagine that the world is one big machine. You know, machines never have any extra parts. They have the exact number and types of parts they need. So I figure if the entire world is a big machine, I have to be here for some reason, too. (p378)”
Brian Selznick, The Invention of Hugo Cabret

The end of the quarter is drawing near... This next week of class is what we like to call, "Dead Week". The week where no tests should be given, no new information is to be learned, and students should spend all free time in the library drinking their 50 cent drip coffees. Unfortunately, not all hold true. I have two finals this week, new lecture information, and I don't have 50 cents, so my coffee with be from home.

I always like to kick off dead week with a trip to the movies and this year, my date was Jeremy and the movie of choice was Hugo, in 3D. You know that Regal Entertainment intro that simulates a roller coster ride? Well, this evening I watched it for the first time in 3D and it was like the first time I ever saw it in the 90s! I even jumped at the popcorn pop...

3D is always an interesting choice however, seeing as Hollywood is obsessed with it as of late, I suppose I best be getting used to it. I do refused to watch Disney movies that are being released in 3D but I may come in to see the Titanic go down, but only that scene. I will not sit through 4 hours of 3D.

My movie notes for Hugo:
1. Much to long, but very enjoyable
2. If you are going to set a movie in France but have the characters speak English, at least give them French accents and not British
3. Uncle Vernon is going to die any day now
4. Dogs make any movie more fun
5. Asa Butterfield is a combination of the Snodgrass children (the kids I used to babysit)

The date night outfit was made up of the dress worn as a tunic with a cream Nordstrom coverup, donated 80s wash jeans from Lauren, red t-strap ModCloth flats, assorted bangles, and a red beaded necklace from Macy's.

This picture also highlights my new rug that I love.

Happy studying fellow students!

Day 73: Pentatonix is my Jam.

"That's why I can't watch American Idol... it is like karaoke without the booze."
-Tracey Morgan

If you are going to dress like a homeless person, you might as well go all out, right?

My Friday night had its far share of shenanigans one of which switching old man sweaters with Troy. So here is my ode to him with this outfit! The dress is worn as a long skirt with a blue Gap tank-top under Troy's old man sweater that might actually been a woman's sweater... Claiborne, black Target tights, Forever21 ankle brown boots, and my Ellen Tracy jacket (this will not be leaving my wardrobe either... I am sorry).

Things that I took away from last night:
1. Karaoke is more fun with wine involved
2. I love 3 for $10 (just saying)
3. Crayons should not be left on the bed
4. If a cord is not coming to you, it is probably not the one you want
5. Cops are nicer to white boys

Day 72: Black Friday Luck!

"Once again, we come to the Holiday Season, a deeply religious time that each of us observes, in his own way, by going to the mall of his choice."
-Dave Barry

You know you are your mother's daughter when:
1. You both yell at the dog for peeing on the carpet in the same tone of voice
2. You both attempt the same harmonies to Christmas music never heard before
3. You both crave the same lunch at Jack-in-the-Box
4. You both share the same love for holiday fabric decorations
5. You both love the same mix-matched fabrics to decorate with
6. You both realize you parked in Bangkok and find it hilarious at the same time because that is where your daughter or sister is currently

I hate Black Friday and usually choose to avoid any mall type of situation, however because some items where necessary, I made an exception this year with a trip to downtown Seattle with me madre. This ended up be extremely successful with superb parking karma, little traffic, free water bottles at Anthropologie, nice sales women and beautiful company. The only worry I have is what will come of the jean skirt... But I trust my mother.

The shopper friendly outfit included the dress being worn as a tunic, Forever21 jeans, blue REI wool socks, Frye boots, green Jcrew men's cardigan, and black necklace from France.

Now to a relaxing evening at home with my new rug, tea, crafting, listening to Pentatonix from "The Sing Off" on repeat, and a few Netflix movies courtesy of the Walkers.

Day 71: Happy Thanksgiving!

"Thanksgiving. It’s like we didn’t even try to come up with a tradition. The tradition is, we overeat. Hey, how about at Thanksgiving we just eat a lot? We do that every day! Oh... What if we eat a lot with people that annoy the hell out of us?”
-Jim Gaffigan

I think I am going to explode...
Note to self: Eating competitions against 4 grown men is a horrible choice. Especially when one member of the group is communicating long distance.

I do approve of smaller gatherings. The clean up is much more manageable and the left overs have a better chance of fair division. I would be happy to not eat a large meal for a long time though. My stomach has finally retaliated in anger and I think this calls for a return of my good, healthy eating habits.

The festivities were met with the dress worn with a yellow Target belt and tan cardigan, Macy's necklace, gold Nordstrom bangle, Forever21 ring, AmericanApparel patterned tights and Frye boots.

Now for food coma....

Day 70: Canadians Just Shouldn't Be Allowed to Build Houses.

"Hayley Williams is my power animal."
-Jeremy Smith (November 23rd, 2011)

There is nothing like riding shotgun in Speedy dodging traffic like a ninja through the outskirts of Tacoma and along the Steilacoom cost towards Dupont all while rocking out to the musical genius that is LMFAO, Hyper Crush, Panic at the Disco (the good records), and the many mash-ups on Jeremy's "good tunes" playlist.

The reunion with mother was equally wonderful and the joy continued with the chasing around the house and wagging tails when I finally saw my dog again! (the tail wagging was obviously from me...) I also successfully made two pumpkin pies that will undoubtably be the best deserts to grace the Reclam household this season even with the competition coming up from the South...

The "I am traveling today and haven't showered" look is brought to you by the dress worn as it was meant to be with its own strings used as a belt, black Target leggings (yes, I am still wearing them even though there is a giant hole in the inner thigh), wool REI socks, Frye boots (I will be wearing these for the next few days since I did not pack any other shoes...), vintage blazer, hand made blue circle scarf, gold bangle from Nordstrom, and Forever21 multi-colored hat to cover up the ugly.

This is my dog Lucy, a.k.a. Mangee. I love her even though she will look like a puppy forever and little fur on her bottom.

Update for my belly, be prepared for torture!! T-minus 14 hours until the best food baby ever will be conceived. (I hope these conception jokes are making everyone else as uncomfortable as they are making me. Thank goodness it will all end tomorrow!)

Day 69: Saved by the Brick.

"You smell like a baby prostitute."
-Janis Ian in Mean Girls (2004)

This might be the worst picture I have ever posted onto my blog but, desperate times call for desperate measures. Posting the days post at 7:15 am the day after it one of these occurrences.

Tuesday and I are good friends. Classes were easy, I aced both of my tests, choir was a "Hey! We are all going to get diabetes because of all of these sweets!" fest, and then I continued the trend of sugar intake while making peanut butter rice krispie treats with my friend Alex while listening to the most wonderful jazz music on record.

Empfohlener Verkaufspreis!

Rehearsal with the orchestra and walking in the rain with Alec were also highlights but nothing with beat the apples-to-apples experience that was shared in this house. I forget how much I love that game and how incredible annoying my laugh can get in between inside jokes and Adolf Hitler.

The outfit that passed out of Henry's couch included the dress worn in true form with a GoodWill plaid over top belted with a vintage belt, grey Target tights, burnt orange socks from my mother's closet, the fugliest shoes I own, moccasin boots with excessive fringe from UrbanOutfitters, and a hand knit cream hat.

Hey! Today was my Friday! What a wonderful long weekend this will be. Belly, get ready because in T-minus two days I am getting you food pregnant. Be prepared to be knocked up!

Day 68: Papa, Papa, Paparazzi

(Pointing to my filled in fireplace)
"You know this is a portal, right?"
-A. B. Chunn

I came to the realization today that I could never be famous because of paparazzi. I can't take myself seriously when someone is following me with a camera. Although, for a day, it was kind of fun. Look for an article in the Western Front on my project! I am really excited for the publicity and hopefully more donations for MusicForYouth.

I really loved today's outfit and felt surprisingly thin even after a week full of eating sweets and yes, it is only Monday. I think that like a new hair cut can change your personality, a outfit can change your mood. This ensemble with the dress worn as a high waisted skirt with the pattern AmericanApparel tube dress worn as a tank top donated by Lauren, cream Nordstrom cover-up tucked into the skirt, plum AmericanApparel tights, turquoise Forever21 ring, and Nordstrom black lace booties definitely made me feel confident, outgoing and bubbley. I really hope tomorrow's outfit of choice brings me the same boost since I have two tests and an extra exciting choir rehearsal.

I learned today that I love cooking with Panko for EVERYTHING, I eat too many sweets and should not keep them in the house, I miss running daily, I am way too excited for Thanksgiving, I want to finish all my knitting projects now, I love Conner Peirson and want to see him succeed in everything he does, I am scared of the wind, and I would move mountains for Alec B. Chunn.

Day 67: That was Very Japanese of You.

"Love binds the world."
-Shara Worden

I think I want to start this project over again revolving every outfit around a onesie. They are the warmest, most wonderful clothing option in the world. Flannel could get quite uncomfortable during the summer months but for now, this is my dream.

Since this project is not about footies but the dress, I had to change into this ensemble with the dress worn as a tunic, Forever21 blue jeans, rainbow socks from Macy's, Frye boots, blue hand knit circle scarf, GoodWill old man sweater, and hand knit cream hat.

Notes from today:
1. The Public Market has the most pleasant cashiers
2. Woods coffee is more reliable on a time crunch than Starbucks
3. Alfred Hitchcock is the man
4. I love toast
5. Knitting is the most relaxing activity one can do
6. I secretly want to be an interior designer
7. My life would be incomplete without A. B. Chunn
8. My Brightest Diamond is my current favorite artist
9. I love reunions with old friends
10. I want a pet cat

It is Sunday so make sure you get all of your homework done and drink lots of tea.
XOXO

Day 66: Cat Sweaters Make Children Smile

"As Mr. Sloan always says, there is no "I" in team, but there is an "I" in pie. And there's an "I" in meat pie. Anagram of meat is team... I don't know what he's talking about."
-Shaun in Shaun of the Dead (2004)

I know that I can always look forward to Saturdays because they always, without fail involve some of my favorite things:
1. Sleeping in
2. Skype dates with SASholes
3. Breakfast in bed
4. TV time with Alec
5. Crafting
6. Nannying Jayden
7. Hanging of with Henry and seeing The Nerd for the second time, watching favorite youtube videos (repeat certain sections enough times to thoroughly annoy him), watching the same Doctor Who episode for the second time in a 24 hour period, watching Shaun of the Dead, and getting ice cream at 12:30 in the morning on the coldest evening we have had thus far

... okay, so all of that doesn't happen all the time but still, a successful Saturday. And I will praise thanks to the cat sweater. This might be my favorite clothing item I have in my possession. This vintage, incredibly warm button up sweater is the best thing since sliced bread especially when paired with the dress worn as a shirt, leather jacket I found in Montana at a library, orange hand knit hat and green hand knit circle scarf, gold chain necklace, donated jeans from Lauren from Macy's, West HIghland White Terrier socks I got for Christmas one year, and brown ankle booties from Forever21.

To start my Sunday off right, I am going to fall asleep in my glow in the dark Target onesie bundled under a copious amount of blankets while watching my favorite Gene Kelly movie, Singing in the Rain. I also hope whoever has their car alarm going off with stop it soon. Thanks.

Day 65: It's Friday, Friday, Friday...

"Remember when you used to watch TV in the Sixties and you'd see Perry Como in a cashmere sweater? That's what rock'n'roll is becoming. It's your parents' music."
-Neil Young

So it looks like we are back to the horrible photo taken by iphoto again for the day... I forgot to get my photographer to capture today's outfit before I left with my nanny child for the park.

This may have possibly been the easiest Friday of my quarter with only one class being held (musical theatre) where I did a proud job on my solo followed by an afternoon spent with my best friend walking to filmistruth, eating, drinking coffee, doing a crossword puzzle and watching Shaun the Sheep (because that is what we do).

Tonight should prove to be a wonderful evening while celebrating a birthday at the Copper Hog and then crafting and planning Christmas gifts until I fall asleep.

All of these wonderful occurrences were made possible by this outfit composed of the dress being worn as an undershirt, knitted sweater dress from Nordstrom, leather brown belt I bought at GoodWill, vintage blazer, plum and cream lace AmericanApparel tights, light brown Nordstrom boots, and home made black earrings.

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Day 64: A Night With Harvey.

"Alright, I am done blowing sunshine up your skirts."
-Dr. Reed.

I must start this post with a confession...

I did not wear the dress for the middle part of my day. NOT BY CHOICE. We had a choral festival during school today at which I was required to wear jeans and my choir shirt and later choir dress. But no to fret my blog lovers, the dress quickly replaced the choir t-shirt as soon as I got home from the most incredible choral experience of my life to follow me to a chicken Caesar wrap dinner and attendance at the play,The Nerd, date with Alec.

Even after the show, my evening continued into a needed hang out session with my dear friend Andy and Colin where we gossiped and watched "Harvey". The cherry on top of a perfect day. Now if only I could sleep like a normal person...

The outfit for the evening included the dress worn in shirt form with Levi jeans, Buckle light brown leather belt, pink socks from FredMeyer, black lace booties from Nordstrom, vintage blazer, Macy's multi-bead necklace, blue hand knit circle scarf, and UrbanOutfitters green fingerless gloves.

Wednesday, November 16, 2011

Day 63: It's Okay As Long As You Are Wearing Tights.

"I didn't want to run around in tights, swinging a sword."
Leonardo DiCaprio

When you are a girl living in the Pacific Northwest, tights are an essential part of your wardrobe. It is nearly impossible to go six months of the year without the classic "skirt with your boots and plaid" ensemble. You want to do this comfortably. This is where tights come into play...

In my case, today I wore two pairs of tights to ensure maximum warmth in the shortest skirt number I have put together yet. Under the already pictured black Target tights dwells the brown Target tights and over that, the Target grey long socks, Frye boots paired with the dress worn as a tank top with a skirt donated by Lauren from UrbanOutfitters, vintage black belt with gold clasp, purple AmericanEagle scarf, gold chain necklaces that belong to my mother, silver ring from a local store in Olympia, AmericanEagle peacoat (the Edward Cullen jacket as my good friend James likes to call it), and a hand knit cream hat.

I clearly believe that all lady-like manners can go out the window when it comes to sitting on the floor when tights are on. Other rules for tights to live by:
1. Striped tights are a bad idea, seriously, don't buy them
2. They do not make spreading your legs socially acceptable, ever
3. Once you have a hole in them, keep wearing them, it only adds to your Western style
4. Tights and leggings are NOT pants. Thank you.

Day 62: Friendsgiving

"All I can do is be me, whoever that is."
-Bob Dylan

Tuesdays are never busy however, today was an exception. Running around between classes, quizzes, retesting, meetings, interviews, cooking, studying, OH MY! What a day...

At least I had a pot luck Thanksgiving dinner with my friends to make the ending of my day wonderful and not stressful. I guess the studying I have ahead of me is stressful, but watching "Dedication" with Alec is only delaying my festivity of hating life a little longer. This is the life of a college student.

Today's photograph was taken in the dwelling of a children's literature author. Obviously... Look at the art work. Child friendly. Also, the owl is adorable.

The outfit for hectic Tuesday was complete with the dress worn in skirt form, a teal long sleeve sweater from Nordstrom, vintage light brown blazer, yellow scarf that was a gift from my friend Kallen, grey Target tights, blue wool socks from REI, silver ring from a store in Olympia, turquoise feather earrings from Forever21, and my black lace booties from Nordstrom.

Tomorrow is my last stressful day for the week and then I am home free! Wish me luck on my endeavors tomorrow and hope I am less awkward, richer, and don't epically fail during my test. I hope the same to all of you lovelies.

Monday, November 14, 2011

Day 61: I am a Doe Eyed Girl (with antlers?).

"I love things made out of animals. It's just so funny to think of someone saying, 'I need a letter opener. I guess I'll have to kill a deer."
-David Sedaris

Disclaimer: No animals were harmed in the making of my deer head other than the cardboard critters.

Monday craft nights never cease to entertain me. My lovely lady friends are so damn crafty with their jewelry making, apron sewing, drawing amazing pictures and making them into plug-in and light switch covers, embroidery happy hands. They inspire me to do great things... Like make this deer head! It is not complete yet but I figured I would show off this work in progress since I dedicated all of Saturday to it and this evening.

Other mentionable from the evening: Bringing back the phrases "Suck it!" and "Sit on it!"

The outfit today revolved around the color grey with a billowing wool cover-up from Nordstrom donated by Riley, grey long-sleeve fleece from UrbanOutfitters, grey Target leggings, grey wool socks from REI, Frye boots, and the dress worn in simplest form. It proved to be a very comfortable ensemble for a busy day of scurrying past awkward encounters, running to class, and eating my weight in brownies and sushi for the win.

Sunday, November 13, 2011

Day 60: I am a Walking Contraction.

"I believe the witness has made it clear that she was in the shower."
-The Honorable Marina R. Bickford in Legally Blonde (2001).

Apparently my new trend is to hide the dress as much as possibly in every photograph. I feel quite successful today with this "evening in my breakfast nook" shot that pretty much describes my life.
1. I love pumpkins.
2. I love chalk.
3. I love my Mac.
4. I love the anatomy of the speech mechanism.
5. I love Old Man shoes.
6. I love drank.
The outfit of the day fit for a nanny on the go who loves to go to Fred Meyer daily included the dress worn as a tunic, light brown cardigan from Target, owl Forever21 necklace, light brown leather Buckle belt, Levi jeans, brown fuzzy socks, purple tear drop earrings light Forever21, turquoise ring that was a gift, and dark brown leather Old Man shoes from GoodWill.

Saturday, November 12, 2011

Day 59: I am a Hobo.

I thought that this picture was appropriate for the quote of the day.

Three day weekends always make me feel lazy and unproductive. I know I should spend this useful time studying, reading, getting ahead on homework or something like that but, you know what I do instead? Make a cardboard deer head and dress like I just rolled out of bed all day.
The list of productive occurrences for the weekend is quite short. Nonexistent to be exact.

The outfit suitable for crafting and going to bed as needed includes the dress worn as a shirt with a "Washington Grown" sweatshirt over, striped UrbanOutfitters t-shirt, black leggings from Target that now have a HUGE hole in them, Ugg boots..., vintage blazer, and my always useful light-blue circle scarf.

On the positive side, tonight is the zombie party so Alec and I will be dirty and belligerent for the duration of my Saturday. I will fall asleep in his bed before 12:30 in the morning, move to my bed at 4:00 am and will undoubtably wake up in the hottest mess form humanly possible.

Friday, November 11, 2011

Day 58: I am a Palindrome.

"Am I eating chicken or tuna?"
Jessica Simpson

Breaded fish? Or breaded chicken? It is a confusing difference to tell. I will give you a hint Ms. Simpson, we are not vegetarians and we bought this out of a warmer.

I love family dinners! Fried chicken, cous-cous, mashed potatoes, Busch, wine, tomatoes, and snicker doodle cookies!! I am a lucky girl. I feel less domestic when I don't make things from scratch but at least I appear to be in this ensemble with the dress worn as a long skirt, black leggings from Target, REI socks, Nordstrom lace black booties, peach tank-top from Target, vintage brown belt, floral patterned Nordstrom cardigan donated by Lauren, Nordstrom locket necklace, tree earrings from a local store in Olympia, and turquoise ring from Forever21.

The later of my evening will be dedicated to studying while the child sleeps and then movies, movies, movies (or 30 Rock...).

Have a safe, glorious three day weekend friends!

Day 57: I am a Lumber Jill.

“An intelligent man is sometimes forced to be drunk to spend time with his fools.”
Ernest Hemingway

Days spent with best friends are beautiful. I am so happy that I spent the day with my love, Cory, walking around campus acquiring a tree for my chandelier (which is the coolest thing in the world, by the way), eating burgers, figuring out our new skills, going to Fred Meyers and buying a CD for the first time since before puberty, making the handy man uncomfortable and being crafty. Unfortunately, he couldn't stay forever but Cory will be back to Bellingham soon or else...

"Shaun the Sheep" viewing with the Walkers was also a success minus a broken-ish toe, permanently burning the bottom of the wok, becoming broke from adding to the "Sorry" jar repeatedly, and wine stains.

But I have a tree in my room hanging from the ceiling with lights on it and it is amazing.

The tree killing outfit was made from the dress being worn as such with a striped button-up from GoodWill, vintage brown leather belt, gold chain necklace that belongs to my mother, cream hand knit hat, plum tights from AmericanApparel, and Frye boots.

I love LMFAO. Just saying.

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

Day 56: I am a Chameleon.

"The only time to eat diet food is while you're waiting for the steak to cook."

-Julia Child

It is the middle of the week but it is like my Thursday because of the glorious three day weekend we are honored with after tomorrows productive day.

In preparation for my best friend to come up from Olympia and spend the evening with me (Cory, I love you!) I had to do some cleaning... especially on our porch. I think it was beyond time to say "au revoir" to the pumpkin children. At least there are no more bugs swarming our front door anymore.

The outfit was created with the dress worn again as a shirt (I will mix it up tomorrow, I promise), an old man sweater from GoodWill, Forever21 skinny jeans, orange wool socks from my mother's closet, brown-leather ankle boots from Forever21, and owl necklace also from Forever21. I love outfits where you stay warm all day and not really need a coat. Thanks man sweater! You are the best.

Now for a steak dinner with Alec, Boundary celebration for my beautiful friend Dannie's birthday and a late night of dancing and other shenanigans that Cory and I will find ourselves in!

Tuesday, November 8, 2011

Day 55: I am a Scavenger.

"You better cut the pizza in four pieces, because I'm not hungry enough to eat six."
Yogi Berra

No more tests, no more homework, to more studying... And it is only Tuesday? What is happening to the world today.

On the list of "amazings" for the day, there includes:
1. Boy with a shirt with an American flag on it with a howling wolf in front of it with friends.
2. A cell phone that blew up in the freezer.
3. Efficient service at Verizon.
4. Coffee date with my favorite lady named Rachel that I am not related to.
5. Evening walk with Chunky.
6. Free food at Rudy's.

Today's outfit went in a different route than the vintage look of yesterday with the dress worn as a t-shirt (ish) shape, patterned tube top wore as a skirt from AmericanApparel, black Target tights, black wool socks from REI, black-lace booties from Nordstrom, chain necklace from Nordstrom, and cream Nordstrom cover-up. This ensemble was an easy transition into the ugliest dress in the world, the dreaded choir dress for a wonderful concert.

Other notes for the day:
1. "Hannah" should always be spelled as such because if you are going to be a palindrome name, you might as well represent.
2. Everyone appreciates when you finish what they can't at the table, win.

Monday, November 7, 2011

Day 54: Zooey Deschanel

"I'm the oldest antique in town."
Norman Rockwell

I love antique shops. They are so much fun even when you are there for ten minutes before they close and you have to then go to a Mexican restaurant for a gorgeous girl's 21st birthday dinner.

I love my best friend. Just saying.

Today's inspiration comes from Zooey Deschanel. She may not be the best actress when there is a horrible script, but I mostly enjoy her. And her fashion.

I went vintage, like she always does with the dress worn as a tank-top vintage skirt I bought in Spain, vintage belt from my grandmother's closet, light-brown Target cardigan, lace American Apparel tights that are of the cream colour, gold chain necklaces from my mother, and vintage style shoes from UrbanOutfitters.

I will one day furnish my life from antique shops. End of story.

Sunday, November 6, 2011

Day 53: Audrey Tautou

"I much prefer to wear balloon pants to jeans."
-Sally Marks

I am in a love hate relationship with my hair. Some days I wake up and I love the way it looks. Others, I hate it and want to shave it all off and be done with it. Today is a love day however I have this over powering feeling to dye it some ridiculous colour in the near future...

Other news, everyone should listen to My Brightness Diamond. She is amazing. Just throwing it out there.

The inspiration for the day is perhaps my favorite woman that is alive slash second favorite woman named Audrey, the gorgeous Audrey Tautou. She always looks classy, put together, and stunning. I wish I looked like her daily but this is as close as I could get with my limited wardrobe selection.

The dress was worn in halter-top from over a white button-up from H&M, black cardigan from the men's section at UrbanOutfitters, balloon pants from UrbanOutfitters, and black leather Cole Hann heels donated by my Aunt Alice.

I hope you all enjoyed this beautiful sunny Sunday!
"Bahnow!!"

Saturday, November 5, 2011

Day 52: Coco Sumner

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived."
Henry David Thoreau

Welcome to the beautiful weekend. I absolutely love the fall. I know I have said that many times but I am reminded of this fact during afternoon strolls to the farmers market sipping on coffee and eating delightful scones with my best friend.

Today, we also fixed the headlight in the car so Alec can drive safely to his concert tonight while I am with the child (I love how much that sounds as if we have a baby... We don't.) The headlight experience was a learning one. What I took away from the job:
1. I need to be more forceful when working on a vehicle
2. Men at Napa judge boys in red cashmere sweaters and girls wearing shorts in November
3. I can fix anything! As long as I have a man near by...

The inspiration for the outfit for the day comes to us from the always fashionable Coco Sumner. For those of you who do not know who that is, Google her. I enjoy her immensely even though she always wears shorts and that is difficult to do in the Pacific Northwest in November.

The dress was worn as a shirt with UrbanOutfitter shorts, grey Target tights, blue old man socks with brown leather old man shoes from Goodwill, Jcrew light-grey blazer, scarf from my mother's closet, and Forever21 sunglasses.

Oh and this was me trying to be "sexy" on the car. You can see how successful that was...

Day 51: Mary Kate

"Without sounding too pretentious, I was sort of a slave to the narrative. When the narrative cracks in, I have to go where it takes me."
Jon Ronson

Today is Friday and there is a promise ahead for a productive weekend as a prepare for two tests next week but with my new obsession with the zombie slaying game and my need to spend 18 hours in the practice room to be prepared for next week... only time will tell.

Today's challenge on inspiration was anything but... I decided to model after the always Boho styled lady, the Miss Mary Kate Olsen. Wearing an unfitted dress with billowing layers over and tights is not far from my regular attire with the sack, cover-ups and leggings often gracing the posts of this blog.

I realize that this picture does not really show off the entire look but Alec refused to take another after this capture of me appearing to ride the bike. If you could see the whole outfit you would see the sack in dress form with no belted or form adjusting feature, black Target tights, Frye boots, black Nordstrom vest, black Nordstrom cover-up, two gold chain necklaces that I think I got from my mother at some point, and Alec's Andy Warhol glasses. I find this recreation to be mostly accurate, I could have gone a step further and worn my gladiator sandals that she is wearing in the picture but it is much too cold to go without tights and boots.

Side note: The bike has been pictured twice and no, I am not giving it away at the end of the year. I am not wearing it. It is my transportation. Thanks, though.

Have a glorious evening friends!

Day 50: Annie Hall

"Honey, there's a spider in your bathroom the size of a Buick."
-Alvy Singer from Annie Hall (1977)

And inspiration week is back and in full swing with the most interesting outfit I have worn to school ever in my life. This is also the first time I have worn a tie not for costume purposes. It was all in good fun for one of my favorite women in fashion history, the always wonderful, Diane Keaton. For those of you who do not dedicate your lives to knowing about the pop culture from any decade but the one you are living in, here's the fill in. Diane Keaton is a California born actress who is most famously known for her role as Annie Hall, a role made specifically for her (her birth name is Diane Hall and her nickname is Annie, put them together, what do you get, Annie Hall). The infamous menswear look was established and embellished on in her name, a look that she kept up with for years and continues to add in occasional today.

Another good name for this outfit would have been, "Something Borrowed" because the majority of this outfit did not come from my closet. The dress took new form as a vest being tucked into a pair of high-waist DNKY trousers that belong to Fiona, belted with a vintage brown belt donated by my grandmother, vintage blazer, white men's fitted botton-up from Alec's closet purchased at H&M, Alec's Scottie Dog red tie (one of my favorite's), and vintage saddle shoes.

I had a lot of fun prancing around in this all day to class, to rehearsals, to Boomer's for burgers, fries and a melt, and a Seattle Opera Young Artists performance of Werther. It was here that I fell in love with an Asian and an Avatar. Evening win.

Day 49: Call Me Sheeba

"I had a little bird,
Its name was Enza.
I opened the window,
And in-flu-enza."

-1918 Influenza Pandemic Children's rhyme (Crawford)

The dress took new form today as a blanket to add to my nine others that always dwell on my bed with five pillows. Hey, it is all about comfort.

Inspiration week reconvenes tomorrow with good health.

Day 48: Blake Lively

"The trench coat is the only thing that has kept its head above water."
Jack Lipman

On nights when I don't have dreams, I always know the next day wont be great. Today was just that. A not great Tuesday. But it is also positive because... NO SHAVE NOVEMBER HAS BEGUN!

Lock up your boyfriends if they are hairy because I love me some scruff. November is always my favorite month because if proves the difference between boys and men.

Today's inspiration is brought to us by the lovely Blake Lively. Now, she is by no means a favorite person or actress of mine but I do love her style. I decided to go down one of her more causal routes because tomorrow will be anything but... Do I the suspense building? It will be the most interesting fashion choice I have made yet.

Today included the dress worn as a tunic, Levi jeans, leather brown Buckle belt, white Keds, cream Nordstrom coverup, light brown Gap trench coat that once belonged to Lauren, grey Target scarf, Forever21 fedora and brown leather bag.

Wish me luck for tomorrows ensemble, and stay away from your razors!
