Day 164: Model Day with Conner.

My extremely talented friend Conner and I are working on a recreation project and today was the photo shoot day. Our goal is to make me look as close to this as possible.

Now I am not Carey Mulligan, even though I have tired to recreate a picture of her before, not very unsuccessfully, but I love this photograph and know that will Conner's skills as a photographer and artist, we can capture the essence of Carey and this photo. I will post the final product for all to see once it is completed. Until then, I will share with you other photos from today.

It is a glorious rainy day. Rain boots and umbrella it is! I knew that buying a red umbrella would come in handy some today. And that day was today. This was our last outfit of the day and the outfit of choice for my day. The dress is being worn in its true form with a Forever21 flowy vest, trench coat donated by Lauren, Forever21 floral patterned scarf, Nordstrom plaid rain boots, and Target umbrella.

Day 163: Pack Up the Used.

I came to the realization that I always wear the same clothes. Yes I wear them differently but I have all these clothes that I haven't even worn yet! So today I put all of the clothes I have worn in a box and will not take them out until April. I said it, it is on the internet. It must stay true.

This is going to be a challenge because it is only day one and I found putting on clothing more difficult than ever...
Here is what I came up with. The dress being worn in its natural form with a vintage sweater over with a variety of patterns including stripes, dots, and checkers, an alpaca scarf I got years ago, and brown leather booties from Forever21. No Frye boots?! Weird...

ALSO: This is what my Rent costume plot shows as my style/hair inspiration. Will I do this to my hair? Kids will have to pay me lots and lots and lots of money. But I don't think we have to worry, Jim Lortz loves my hair. He would never do this to me. Or at least let's hope...

Day 162: Professor Trelawney.

To get dressed today, let us start with something normal. The dress being worn in its true form but worn over Forever21 jeans. Jeans under a dress: excellent fashion trend. Then add a shirt donated by Lauren. Now we have an even better trend! Skirt, jeans, and a shirt.
I feel like Professor Trelawney today. Maybe it is because of my psychological powers. Or maybe it is just the pattern of this scarf my mother made me two years ago. The blazer donated by Lauren is another bonus to the look.
Frye boots to top it off? I think yes.
A present day, modern Professor Trelawney for the win.

I just realized who this actress is! Mind is blown. She came so far from the Lindsey Lohan Parent Trap. Why am I on this Lohan fix right now...

Day 161: Stuck in the 80s.

I wish I was a 20 year old in the 80s. I would have thrived especially in this ensemble with high waisted Levis jeans cuff with Nike vintage edition high-tops, the dress being worn as a shirt tucked into the jeans, adding a man's Jcrew cardigan, leather jacket, and fringe shirt scarf I made a while back.

I would have been like these girls. Win.

Day 159: A Chorus Line.

A Chorus Line is one of my favorite musicals so the minute I heard my friend was in it as an understudy in Seattle as my favorite character, Paul, I stopped everything and went down to see it. And it was worth the trip and missing rehearsal. Truong was stunning during his monologue, speaking each word as it was meant to be shared. There is nothing like watching that man dance. That in itself brought me to tears. It is easy to forget how talented people are when you don't see them everyday and Truong is one of the most talented people I know. I want to watch him dance and perform everyday. You are a wonder my darling. Thank you for sharing your gift.

The "Seattlite" outfit was as hipster as possible with the dress being worn as a skirt under a UrbanOutfitters striped shirt, Nordstrom cream cover up, and again with the circle scarf and Frye boots. But this time I have an excuse! I was traveling.

Added bonuses of the trip included a five star bed, french toast breakfast, cats, cats, cats... Oh and the best vegan food I have ever had.

Day 158: The Pee Challenge.

Getting dressed in the morning can be challenging. I not only have issues putting clothing on but I also have issues wearing things they were meant to be worn, layering in the most uneducated fashion, and not matching. Today embodies all of these fashion flaws.

Let us start to the beginning with the Target jumper, the initial pattern. Colorful and comfortable but, it is a jumper. This means, shorts are attached to the top which is over my shoulders... I know! Let's put a skirt over it! The dress, the dress! It can be worn as a skirt! Oh, and then let's belt by Buckel it for added peeing difficulty. Perfect.

What the hell, let's make it more challenging by added a floral ModCloth patterned cover-up so we have to take off even more clothes just for relief. To top it off, add the same two things I always wear, a circle scarf of the goldenrod color, and Frye boots.

Flawless, don't you thing.

*I promise to not talk about urination again.

Day 160: Damien Gave Me His Polo.

Cady: I don't anything pink...
Damian: I do!

Or is my case, teal. The plastics at my school love recycling. Got to think green and drink lots of water. Aka, teal power.
So my pal Damian gave me a polo! In actuality, this once belonged to Lauren's father who is not Damian but I like the reference for my generation. The outfit for the day of rest included the dress being worn as a long shirt under the polo that has lost its tag, Forever21 skinny jeans, REI socks, and old man shoes from GoodWill. Head scarf, Nordstrom. A nice touch.
I quite enjoy the cheesiness of moi.

Inspiration.

Lindsey Lohan is a gem.

Day 157: Black and White.

Welcome to my new set up in my room. Flowers, records, and candles for days. I find nothing to be more relaxing and glorious. I may do this every evening to ensure my happiness.
When I got up to get dressed this morning I decided to let black and whites barf on my body. I started with an AmericanApparel patterned article of clothing that I decided to wear as a skirt and then added the dress worn in true form over it. Next I added a H&M tank top I bought in Washington DC three years ago, wool socks that may have ruined the color pattern because they are brown... And black Nordstrom lace booties. When it came to adding the scarf to the ensemble, I asked Alec for advice. I added this LoveCulture plaid patterned scarf as a joke and Alec said that it was perfect. The final touch was the Nordstroms cream cover up for added warmth and here you have it. A smorgasbord of black and white.
  I love my mom.

Day 156:Rainy Repeat Friday.

It is raining a lot today so the world is in a weird tint. I apologize in advance.
But it is a rainy day! It was well spent in classes and then with my favorite bedroom electronic, my record player. The music of choice...
My new Gotye album! Big thanks to Nick for helping me with this purchase. I am quite please. I have become a little obsessed with Gotye ever since Meghan told me to listen to the Gotye station on pandora (do it, it is amazing). I had been meaning to expand my album collection and this was the perfect new member to the family. Now I need to find the other two of his...
While I was at the Co Op today making a purchase for my room mate, I found this, Lori's Lemon Tea. This is significant because my mothers name is Lori. Well, Loretta but Lori for shot. I bought it for that reason only, not because it would be delicious, because of the name. Thanks marketing. You win again, as usual.

My Friday outfit changed at lot from yesterday. Can't you tell? Dress worn in the same way with the same pair of jeans, the same belt, the same scarf... I am excellent at mixing things up though with a different pair of boots, my Frye boots, and a new sweater, a grey Nordstroms number donated by Lauren. I also wore the trench coat again that I think I forgot to mention in the last post that was also once Lauren's but is now in my possession.

Day 155: Makeup Hoarder.

I have entered the world of true "girldom". I have acquired a ridiculous amount of makeup over the years and today, decided to look though it and see what I have. My little makeup bag fits all of this crap. I am still amazed. I don't really wear makeup however, I guess all the years of theatrical performances, school dances, Halloweens, and Lady Gaga partys I have made quite the little collection.
How much of this do I actually use. Usually four things. The rest is just for show. Will I get rid of the useless? Absolutely not. I am really bad at this whole "becoming a minimalist" thing. Maybe when September 15th comes and I get rid of all my clothes I will feel differently and get rid of all my useless makeup too. We will see Charlie Chaplin, we will see.
I didn't have my one class today because it was canceled due to ACTF (theatre student thing) so I spent the day working on homework downtown... Well, after 3 o'clock. I had other things to do in the morning that I found to be more important, aka: laziness. I much prefer time in bed.
Once I finally got out of bed and into the dress, I created this outfit by tucking the dress into a pair of Levi boyfriend cut jeans, then belted with a leather number from Buckle. put of some Christmas socks, added my alpaca black sweater to the look, slipped into a pair of Forever21 brown leather booties, and finished the look with the cream circle scarf. Perfect for time at the Koi cafe and Man Pies. Delicious.

Day 154: Wolf Shirt Wednesday.

I would like to instate "Wolf Shirt Wednesdays". Unfortunately, I only own two... We will see how long this lasts. I will give it, two weeks.
The collection begins of show goodies! Last night I received flowers from my mother, sister, Karee, Jim, and Alec as well as chocolate from Jerry. Oh, and apples from Maureen. Very successful I would say and it makes for a lovely addition to my room. Unfortunately, I think the flowers may be inducing my allergies...
Alec may not be pleased with me for putting this photograph of him on the internet but, I really love it. So too bad for him! This kid is a gem and my world. Best Valentine ever. I love him deeply.
So here we are, Wolf Shirt Wednesday number one. I am pleased with the outcome of this hipster push in the right direction. The dress is worn in tunic form under a wolf shirt that my aunt and cousins in Montana bought me two summers ago paired with a UrbanOutfitters knitted sweater, goldenrod circle scarf, Forever21 skinny jeans, burnt orange wool socks, and wool plum colored Toms.
Hello accessories. Here is a close up of my arm party with four of the standard bangles I wore daily. Top down we have one that belonged to my mother, a Forever21 gold bangle, another one that was my mothers, and a Nordstrom patterned floral bangle.
Toms are excellent as are wool socks.
Howl if you love Wolf Shirts!
HOWL!!

Day 153: Anna Howard Shaw Day.

"Valentine’s Day is a sham created companies to reinforce and exploit gender stereotypes.. I will buy some cookies, but not for Valentine’s Day. Instead, these cookies celebrate the February 14th birthday of Anna Howard Shaw, famed American suffragette."
- Liz Lemon

Happy VD.
No not, venereal disease... Valentines Day! But I can see where you would get confused. Today is a Hallmark holiday that I choose not to celebrate in any way, shape, or form and it is not because I am a snarky single. I am quite the opposite. I just don't see why we have to show other people how much we care about them on this particular day. The only logical answer I have is, because everyone else is doing it. But if everyone were to jump off a bridge would you? I would not. So I celebrate with OPENING NIGHT!

This is Jim, my fake father. I have the upmost respect for this man and I am so honored to be playing the role of his daughter. Isn't his shirt spectacular? Later, I will show you his vest and our matching buttons.
My costume and dressing space. As you can see, it is well lit with many-a-mirrors. Perfect for this princess in the making! Too bad the mirrors help from shading myself from my male cast members.

Flowers from my mother and sister! A wonderful surprise. My mother had them sent to the theater so I had no idea. I cried. I am such a girl...
And here, the outfit for the day and the only reason you are actually here. In honor of the day of over priced greeting cards and chocolates, I decided to dress myself in a floral explosion or as I now would like to call it, a "exploral" (Henry and I worked very hard on coming up with the perfect combination of those words, so you better love it). The outfit started with the dress being worn in true form and then the layering began... First came the plaid old man's shirt from GoodWill, then tucked into this Gap floral skirt. Next came a floral Nordstrom cardigan donated by Riley under a Gap jean jacket. Next I added floral patterned socks, vintage saddle shoes, floral bangles, braided brown leather Target belt, and a cream knit hat to cover my bed head.

A fun combination says I.

Day 152: Nurse Nancy.

This post should really be titled, "Hi, my name is Hannah and I don't wear pants," because I am Hannah and I don't wear pants when the weather is certainly calling for it. I can not give you an accurate record of how many people gave me the "you are insane" look for tromping around campus today sans tights and in a skirt. An estimate would be 14,000 (keeping in mind I didn't see all 14,979 students but I did see many parents and teachers).

Also, I don't think I can help feeling like a nurse wearing white Keds and a skirt even if the rest of me in screaming "BELLINGHAMPSTER!"
The weather ambiguous outfit (that is what I would like to call it) included the dress being worn as a skirt with a plaid men's shirt from GoodWill over it paired with white Keds, leather jacket I found in Montana in the public library, and goldenrod circle scarf that I wear daily.

Day 151: Rum.

We are getting close to opening night of the Fantasticks.. Only two more days away. Weird... It feels like only yesterday we started rehearsing. Oh wait, that was like a week ago. That explains the feeling. Stage make-up has now come into play which is my favorite and least favorite part of shows. I love putting on the finishing touches to my character (the foundation, blush, eye-shadow, etc.) but I hate putting it on. I thought, as a little girl, that I would love to wear makeup when I was older. This stems from my mother telling me I wasn't allowed to wear lip gloss until 7th grade. The truth is, I hate putting on makeup in the morning. It is a good day if I manage to slap on some mascara. It is time consuming and not very good for your skin. But, it does you wonders on stage. So here we have the left overs after this evenings rehearsal.

The dress is being worn as a tunic under a purple sweater my aunt Suize knit me for Christmas paired with Target yoga pants for extra comfort, Frye boots for what style I can try to manage in an outfit like this, floral UrbanOutfitters scarf and bangles for days. A successful "roll out of bed in time to leave for morning call" ensemble.

Other previews for you...
My fake boyfriend. He looks very little in this picture but we are the same height. I quite enjoy his scrappy look in this with rosy cheeks and one shoe off. Adorable.
And this is fake boyfriend's fake dad. Jerry is a gem. I am so blessed to know him and work with him in this show. Now, if only he would bring some of his personally brewed beer...
